Under the Asia Research Institute Asian Urbanisms cluster, I am organising a conversation between Singapore artist/writer Jason Wee and Indonesia artist Tita Salina, two artists based in two different Southeast Asian cities and whose work engages with the notion of ‘Asia as Future’. The artists will be invited to introduce their works and discuss their observations on the conditions that underpin the ‘urban futures’ of Southeast Asian cities, their thoughts on Southeast Asian speculative urbanisms and imaginaries, and the critical and creative utilit(ies) of the concept of ‘Asia as Future’. NUS Associate Professor of Sociology Daniel PS Goh will be providing his comments.
